Day & Day Company is working with eightvillage to restore an early 20th century neighborhood gathering space in the English Avenue neighborhood of Atlanta. The Yellow Store will encompass ground floor retail, a community oriented cafe, live/ work rental properties on the second floor, and an expansive shared garden. The garden’s inspiration was developed in response to the building’s participation in English Avenue’s history as an entrepreneurial hub. Fueled by the idea of soft fascination and the importance for letting your mind rest in nature in order to generate your best ideas, the garden has been designed to cultivate togetherness and foster community, becoming a source for the sharing and disseminating of ideas. Surrounded by a verdant hedge juxtaposed by a loose canopy, the garden employs tactile materials and a soft planting palette to ensure the senses remain alive and the noise of a 21st century life can fade away.
