Doghobble Wine Farm is a reflection of a deep respect for both the land and the history of this rural site. Situated in one of the country’s newest wine regions, Doghobble Wine Farm is located on the eastern side of the Dahlonega Plateau American Viticultural Area in Lumpkin County, GA. Due to the distinctive geography and relatively warmer climate, the region is gaining popularity among grape growers and oenophiles. At the onset of the project, the site consisted of only a ramshackle farmhouse sited on a prominent ridge surrounded by agricultural fields and dirt access roads. Day & Day Company worked alongside MSME Architects and The Johnson Studio interior designers to conceptualize an agrotourism experience unique to the Dahlonega Plateau. The design team’s process began with visiting local wineries throughout the Georgia Piedmont region and established viticultural areas in Texas and the American West to contextualize what sets the Doghobble vineyard experience apart from others. We evolved a landscape masterplan that reflects a sensitivity to the vineyard’s context and its function as an operational vineyard, orchard, and livestock farm.
