Day & Day Company was recommended by the Atlanta History Center to work with the South Fork Conservancy in designing the entrance gardens to the Confluence Trail. The South Fork Conservancy had recently completed the construction of the Confluence Bridge over Peachtree Creek and the confluence of South Fork Peachtree Creek. The site was so heavily compacted from the bridge construction, we first identified a performative seed mix of Radish, Cereal Rye, and Crimson Clover to help break up the compaction and rehabilitate the soil in preparation for a perennial garden installation. Over 1,000 individual plants of 17 regionally native species were installed with the help of a team of volunteers. The species were chosen for resiliency, adaptability, seasonal interest, and wildlife value- creating a beautifully self sustaining, designed landscape. We are excited to watch this garden thrive and evolve over the years to come.
